Meet the menu
START SLOW.
It started with a kitchen table.
For friends Mara and Theo, the best conversations always happened over breakfast. Someone would make coffee. Someone would cut another slice of bread. Nobody would be in much of a hurry to leave.
In the fictional town of Alderwick, they imagined a place that felt just like that. In 2021, a former corner shop on Willow Lane became Juniper & Rye: a few wooden tables, green-painted shelves, and a kitchen just big enough for good things.
The name brings together two of their favorite things: the quiet green of the outdoors and the warm, familiar smell of fresh bread.
The little things add up
Care you can taste. Comfort you can feel.
We taste the coffee before we serve it. We make our cakes in small batches. We keep the menu short enough to give every plate our attention.
Some mornings are busy. Some afternoons are beautifully quiet. There is room for both here, and always a warm welcome at the door.
A few things we believe in
- Simple things, done well. Good bread, good coffee, and ingredients with something to say.
- A seat for everyone. The solo reader, the old friends, the family coming in from the rain.
- Making the most of the season. Bright tomatoes in summer, warming soup when the days turn cool.
- Enough time to enjoy it. Nobody needs to rush their last sip.
We wanted to make a place we would love to spend a Tuesday morning. So we did.
